Little bit more about me - Good Working Experience

PERSONAL OBJECTIVES
To further my knowledge and interest in the field of public relations and advertising. I am willing and excited to take the opportunity to learn as much as I can where ever possible. I aim to maximise my opportunities, and the tenacity to keep on pushing the boundaries in order to accomplish both personal goals and those required by the company and its customers.

WORK EXPERIENCE

1. Country Living Magazine, National Magazine Company, 72 Broadwick Street, London.
Duties: General administration, answering the phone – Dealing with Complaints to compliments and research on feature ideas. The main aim of the work experience was to learn and understand the production of the magazine and get involved and understand the roles in the features department as well as gaining more knowledge of the PA position to an Editor.

2. The Staggering Eagle Magazine (Mod)
Duties: I had the opportunity to do freelance articles for the Regimental Company Magazine. This included events and training days/ weekends.

3. Cargo Cult Communications, Soho London
Duties: I had the opportunity of taking part in all departments in the London based PR firm, from writing press releases to dressing mannequins and organizing call outs of press samples. The everyday admin duties included research, answering the phone and down town trips to store after ‘popping into Vogue! The Per una Press show was our main project and I was lucky enough to get really involved. The organizing of the Marks and Spencer Designer collection press show answered many questions regarding PR!

And then you wake up....

I read a quote from a friend recently "we're like children trapped in adult body's and just forced to get on with it" - and how true it is - but then i think back to when i was a child and felt like an adult, but stuck in a little girls body not being able to do anything!

We craved for years of being an adult and grown up and then one day it hits you, Whaam! My best friend has had her first little boy, it kills me not to be with her! but man, it has made me realise how quickly the years have gone! why did i crave to grow up so quickly and move on?

"Now, I'm moving on again, finding something new and close to home. Hopefully this time i can pursue what i want and still have the time to be a kid... "

Here I am, World!

So with moving outward and onward to dear Durban, I'm excited to say, well, that I'm excited! I've had some interesting times in Joburg, had ups and downs, made some great friends, and that they'll always be; I've bumped into some great opportunities and life experiences, and like a spectator on the outside watching with anticipation, I can see how I've grown so much over this last year. Especially with being away from Home no.2, the beautiful Hertfordshire of England, life has taken some beautiful turns.

So I'm coming home, and it is, where my heart is. Beautiful Durban. With it's vast array of character and people and colour, I know I'm never going to run low on inspiration. I'm going south, trusting I'll find a job in PR, or that a job finds me, where I'm challenged and excited to wake up to every day. Okay, maybe excited to wake up just a few days a week, at least. (I love my sleep!)

So welcome to my bloggity blog. I hope that you find it a fun and authentic place to visit, and most of all, learn that little bit more about me and what I love (especially if you're an prospective business partner or employer!) If you know of any events, gigs, promos or great places to chill and have great coffee, be in touch!
